A small mention..something I forgot!

Hey, did you guys see that show BIG BROTHER?? What exactly is going on in there? Is this a media hype or are they really mis-treating the nice Indian lady actor, SHILPA SHETTY ???

I cant believe people can be as racist on the Telly as they're talking about here. I thought, the English had long ago accepted India as a friend and friends dont mistreat each other in such a manner, do they?
Did that lady really ask Shilpa if she lives in a shack?????? LOL..she ought to come here once. I think Shilpa would be richer than her, even when counted in British Pounds.

It saddened me to hear of it. I wonder, are Indians treated badly over there in England and called names behind their backs?

I'd like to apologise for Jade Goody. I'm embarrassed for her, and for us, as she's giving us such awful press. She's so small-minded and most people aren't like that here.

I've heard there's been a big kick-off about Big Brother, in India and elsewhere in the world. Most people here are disgusted by what's been happening in the house. The bullying and rascism horrible.

It has caused quite a stir here, you're right about that!
People are shocked and horrified when they learnt of the treatment she was/is given in that house during the show.
Ah..Thomas, this English guy, when he called me up yesterday also managed to put in a word or two about this episode and said, "I'm going to write a letter to Jade Goody and ask her to come to India. She needs an eye opener. Everyone treats me so well here. But just cos of this episode, people have come up to me and asked me, would you like to be treated in the same manner in India as you treat that lady there?"
He said he was rendered speechless by their questions and they looked hurt as if he personally had been responsible.

Personally, I think, some people give a bad name to the country and some share of this bad publicity also goes to the media who help the politicans turn it into a political stunt.

I thank you for the consideration you show and assure you, I still plan to see your country this year.

    I know how to cook Indian food...from the North of India....seriously though, if you ever find your self coming to Canada, I would be honored to make you a meal ro two..triple hugs...

I haven't seen this episode of big brother, but of course, I've heard of it. I think the creators of big brother must have chosen someone they knew had 'racist' or 'bitchy' tendencies, and an Indian girl, to create 'drama' in their show... which worked... and has skyrocketed viewer ratings. Any publicity is better than no publicity for them. Shows like Big Brother are just exploiting the different personalities in the 'house' for entertainment.

Ah, it's a shame that show is creating a backlash of racism in India too. TV is such a scary influence isn't it?!

  I'll say! YOu know what? We have te same kind of show in India too, its called Big Boss. IT creates a lot of publicity for people who are fading away from the media.
  
  I hear Jade Goody was also one of those people, fading away from media. They made her infamous through this.
  I'm glad that people here in the blogland and out everywhere, whereever this has been discussed, have condemned racist remarks. Thank you to all those people.
  
  The poor girl on the show had been reduced to tears repeatedly on account of the country she came from.
  When are some people going to realise, along with the rest of the world, that India is no longer a BACKWARD country; infact- it never was!!
  India has the roots of ancient civilization and was much more developed when the countries out in the West were still in Stone Age.
  I wish one looks into History before they start talking. But then, this Goody lady seems to be uneducated. Cant fight with those kind of people, can we now?

    Yes, silly Goody girl doesn't know that mathematics, atoms and the theory of relativity, perfumes, medicine, and chess, ludo, snakes and ladders, and card games, and much much more were invented in India a loooong time before her people were out of their animal skins.

        No, I've never studied Indian history, but it looks very interesting. I recently watched a documentary (on the aeroplane!) about how 'zero' was invented in India and how it led to all sorts of complicated mathematics. Someday, I would like to read more about Hindu myths and legends and also about Ayuvedic medicine.

        You're right about the Hindu myths and legends. They make great stories.
        Ayurvedic medicine; that one, I prefer more than going to the doc and taking bitter pills. Why go to the doc if there can be home made remedies?
        Whenever I go out and I show people how to cure themeselves of small illness with home made stuff, they feel amazed. But its true! Nature has gifted us with so many things, the cure is in our hands for small ailments atleast!
        I guess, its your evening, late evening now. I'll wish you a peaceful dinner and a plesant night.
